What is the Davis PTO and Why Should You Support it?

Davis Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of parents and teachers striving to support
the needs of Davis Middle School. Although the PTO has only been in existence for 5 years, our
organization has accomplished some remarkable achievements. 

Through membership dues and fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to fund these annual events:
Staff meals during parent/teacher conferences
Teacher of the Year & Faculty of the Year Awards
Funds to support academics and a leveled book room at Davis
Funds to support the 8th Grade gathering at the Mark
Donations to the Davis Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors who attended Davis
Internet and Social Media safety presentations for parents
Various other needs of the school that are not within the school’s yearly budget

Over the past 5 years, the PTO has helped raise the funds necessary for the following:
Davis Aviator lettering for the gymnasium  floor
Davis stadium scoreboard
Equipment storage shed for the stadium
Construction of a monument sign for  the State Street entrance to the school

In 201-2019, we are raising funds for the following:
Construction of the school marquee to communicate upcoming events at Davis
Additional books for the leveled book room

Funds for extracurricular clubs at school

Supporting the PTO is a great way to support the academic environment of your student. The research and the evidence are very clear.  When parents are involved in their children’s education at home, they do better in school.  And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better. 

In order to support our school family, the PTO raises money in three ways:  your membership dues;  various fundraisers and sponsorship drives (like Adopt-A-School partnerships and the Glow Run), and sales from the school bookstore.   Joining the PTO does not mean you have to attend every meeting.  And you don’t have to be a PTO member to help with our fundraising efforts.  The Davis PTO has 501(c) 3 status so all money donated to the PTO is tax-deductible
